| The Ham Amenities Group is a non-political group, formed in 1979
to preserve, as far as possible, our natural heritage, to improve
services and to provide the opportunity of social contact by arranging
various activities. Much of its income, including all profit from Ham Fair, which we founded in 1983 and
organise annually, is given to local charities and good causes and has
amounted over the past few years to several thousand pounds.

Aims and Objectives
- To promote preservation of our area and a high standard of
cleanliness and tidiness. We do this through contact with the relevant
departments of Richmond Borough
Council, and our Ward Councillors. Particular areas of interest
are
- Keeping the Common and riverside beautiful, with a practical
balance between open grassland, trees, flowers, ponds and car parks.
- Monitoring building developments and other Council planning
decisions, supporting those in keeping with the environment and
opposing those detrimental.
- To maintain the Gate House Garden (close to the Cassel Hospital)
which was originally purchased and set up by our Group.

- Through regular Newsletters to inform members of our activities
and of a wide variety of local events and other matters of
interest.
